Clinical Education Coordinator

Jill Reese earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.  She is currently the Clinical Education Coordinator with Dayton Physicians, Hematology and Oncology.  Ms. Reese teaches patients and family members in one-on-one or group sessions what to expect with their treatment.  Classes cover topics such as coping, nutrition, nausea, mouth sores, hair loss, sexuality, and fatigue.  Her training responsibilities also include keeping the Nurses and Medical Assistants informed on new treatments and guidelines for patient care.  Working along with Nurse Practitioner Joyce Marrs, they are designing and developing a survivorship program for the practice and community.

Ms. Reese has spent over 15 years as a Registered Nurse in the field of Oncology.  She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and a certified instructor for the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course.  This course is offered to nurses who are new to the field or in need of a review of the different cytotoxic and biotherapeutic agents.  Ms. Reese helped to develop and publish the ONS PEP (Putting Evidence into Practice) Card on Depression.  These are resources provided by ONS to give nurses the most up-to-date evidence needed to help provide optimal care.  After starting her career at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and working the last 11 years in private practice, Ms. Reese enjoys the time she spends with each patient helping them to understand their diagnosis, the treatment they are receiving and explaining the side effects they may or may not experience.  This provides each patient, and family, with the knowledge and comfort that is needed during this difficult time.
